Seun Kuti is a Nigerian musician and the youngest son of the Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti. He leads his father’s former band, Egypt 80, and continues the legacy of Afrobeat music and activism. Seun Kuti started playing with Egypt 80 when he was only nine years old, and took over the band after his father’s death in 1997.

He has released several albums with Egypt 80, such as Many Things, From Africa With Fury: Rise, and Black Times, which was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2018. Seun Kuti is also a vocal critic of social and political issues in Nigeria and Africa, such as corruption, poverty, and neocolonialism. He participated in the Occupy Nigeria protests in 2012 and revived his father’s political party, Movement of the People, in 2020. Seun Kuti is married to Yetunde George Ademiluyi, one of his dancers, and they have a daughter named Ifafunmike Adara Anikulapo-Kuti.
