Who is Jude Nnam ?
One of the most well-known Nigerian Catholic composers of the present day is Sir Jude Chika Nnam, also known as Ancestor. He is an accomplished pianist, composer, and conductor of choirs. He has made a name for himself in the field of African music, particularly among Catholics.
Sir Jude was born and raised in the Igbo-speaking Nigerian state of Enugu South Local Government Area. At a very young age, he had his first instruction while playing with the choir of his local church, where he picked up the organ and other instruments, including the keyboard. a music graduate of Trinity College of Music in London and the esteemed University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
Numerous languages, including English, Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Bini, Efik, Swahili, Ashanti, Zulu, Hindu, Spanish, French, and Chinese, to name a few, have inspired Jude to write thousands of original compositions and arrangements. During Pope John Paul II’s visit to Nigeria in March 1998, he directed the “Papal Choir of a Thousand Voices” in Abuja. He has also performed on stages alongside Nigerian musicians such as Frank Edwards, Prof. Dan Agu, Dr. Adebowale, and Prof. Laz Ekwueme. He is in demand as a teacher of choral music and a praise music composer. In several nations, he has led choirs.
Sir Jude Nnam was announced as a Yamaha artist for Keyboard items in May 2017.
The National Catholic Liturgical Music Council of Nigeria’s Sir Jude Nnam is the country’s national music director at the moment.
